About Laois Nest Cams

Laois Nest Cams is an independent wildlife camera project based in County Laois, Ireland.

The project began with the simple idea of building and installing a nest box and seeing what might happen. From there, it grew into a hands on exploration of local wildlife, camera setups, and learning how to observe nature without disturbing it.

The nest boxes featured on this site have been built by myself and installed locally, with careful positioning to ensure the birds’ safety and wellbeing. All monitoring is done remotely, allowing natural behaviour to unfold without interference.

So far, the cameras have captured fascinating moments from barn owls and blue tits, offering a rare glimpse into nesting behaviour, feeding routines, and daily life inside the box.

The project has very much been a family effort – designing and building boxes, mounting cameras, adjusting angles, and learning through trial and error.

Laois Nest Cams is not a commercial venture. It’s simply a way to observe, learn from, and share the wildlife living right here in Laois.

As new species discover the boxes, the story continues to grow.
